Boating Communities of South Puget Sound
South Puget Sound's water-oriented geography supports an active boating lifestyle including cruising, kayaking, sailing, and scuba diving. The cities and suburbs in this area offer quiet neighborhoods combined with a number of full service marinas and marine services. Its main cities include Tacoma and Olympia, the State Capital. If you need access to a larger city, Seattle is less than an hour north. Olympia ranks as one of America's loveliest cities and Tacoma, the City of Destiny, is an international gateway to the Pacific Rim and the world. Tacoma also serves as a gateway to some of the most magnificent natural wonders in the world such as Puget Sound, Mount Rainier National Park and the Olympic Peninsula. South Puget Sound has a number of great boating communities including Gig Harbor, Fox Island, Olympia and the Thea Foss Waterway.

I live in a wonderful Whidbey Island boating community named Mariners Cove. Our home is on a canal with a 60' dock where I moor Meridian, a 46' Knight & Carver sports sedan. I am a member of the Oak Harbor Yacht Club and on the Finance Council for St. Augustine's Parish. I am focused on providing real estate services to owners and buyers of boating community properties in my area. Whether buying or selling properties, please give me a chance to help you. Its what I do.

Fox Island
FOX ISLAND An island community of over 3,000 residents, Fox Island is connected to the mainland by the Fox Island Bridge across Hale Passage. It is a very active community within an easy commute to Tacoma via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Like Gig Harbor, it is a 45-minute drive from Sea-Tac International Airport and an hour from downtown Seattle. It has many waterfront homes, some with private and community docks. For those without moorage, the marinas in Gig Harbor are a short drive away. The residents of Fox Island have a strong sense of community and pride in their island. Home prices range from around $300,000 to $2 million.
Gig Harbor
GIG HARBOR With a city population of 6,500 and growing, Gig Harbor enjoys a vibrant economy with good shopping, fine restaurants, cultural arts, lots of marinas and marine services. Called the Maritime City, Gig Harbor is only a 45-minute drive from Sea-Tac International Airport and the city of Tacoma is just a few minutes drive across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Gig Harbor has a number of homes with marina views and private docks. It is one of the most picturesque small cities in America and a great boating community. Home prices range from the high $200's to over $2 million.
Olympia
OLYMPIA Puget Sound's southernmost city is home to the state's capital – historic Olympia. A city rich in beautiful natural scenery combined with stately older homes. For a mid-sized city of over 40,000 residents, it still provides the feel of a small town. It has a couple of great marinas and services as well as some near by homes with private docks for those boaters who can afford them. Be sure to review Olympia in depth, for the community has a lot to offer boaters. Homes range in price from the low 200's to around $2 million.
Thea Foss Waterway (Tacoma)
THEA FOSS WATERWAY Tacoma’s Waterfront Downtown is reborn for in-city condo living at it’s best. The Thea Foss Waterway is uniquely positioned to link together many much-cherished and yet-to-be-realized Tacoma sights with new condos, retail shops, the International Museum of Glass, revitalized and new public marinas, a shoreline esplanade, new parks, a hotel and other projects under development. At one end of the “Foss” lie the shoreline parks of Ruston Way, already enjoyed for walking, running, roller blading and relaxing along Commencement Bay. On the Foss itself, Thea's Park already provides a welcoming gateway to what will one day become the longest waterfront walkway in the nation. Condominiums range in price from around $200,000 to $800,000.
